About

Wando Rugby was founded in 2010 by a small group of students from Wando High School. We have grown over the years into a powerhouse rugby club that has won state, regional, and national level championships. We are a member club of Rugby South Carolina; we will always strive to compete at an ever higher level, yet we remain committed to growing the sport of rugby in the Charleston area and being a friendly and encouraging place for newcomers to learn the great sport of rugby. We have always been blessed with a dedicated staff of all volunteer coaches who are students and teachers of the game of rugby. More importantly, they are women and men of high character who develop our players into athletes of high moral fiber. We believe that Wando Rugby is a character development program, a family, and a fitness regimen all wrapped around the best sport in the world.

In the summer of 2018, Wando Rugby reorganized as a 501(c)3 nonprofit and developed a Board of Directors. This current group of parent volunteers will serve a 2 year term ending in the fall of 2022. The board will hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in August every year to discuss the post season recap and develop a preseason plan. Active members in good standing of Wando RFC are welcome to attend the AGM. Please contact the board secretary to confirm the meeting time and location.

On October 6. 2021, we ceased operating as a club attached to Wando High School. We freely welcome ALL area high school students of high character to play with Wando Rugby Football Club regardless of the high school (or home school) they attend.
